On Thursday, December 3, 2009, at 12.00 pm EST, we will post a test translation on this page. You will need to translate it from English into Russian.
We think the test should take one hour to complete. When you have finished the translation, we ask that you send it to ivandusen@voanews.com. Assignments submitted after 1.05 pm EST will not be considered.
You will be judged according to the time it takes you to complete the translation, as well as, even more importantly, by the accuracy and style. Ideally, the translated text should sound like it was originally written in Russian (literaturniy perevod) rather than a blindly literal, word-for-word translation.
